There were movements here and there causing her to wake from her gentle slumber.
She shifted the blanket aside jumping out if the bed and forcing her legs into her porn slippers.
She rushed out of her room, stopping a running guard on his tracks.
“What’s going on?” She asked breathing heavily out of the force she had used to wake up.
“There was a sudden attack.” He replied.
She gasped…
Lucas?!
“What about the vice commander?” She asked again wanting an immediate response from the guard.
” He has been injured. But he’s receiving treatment as we speak.”
“Okay. Okay. Thanks by the way. ” She said trying to dilute the ugly news. ” She made a sign with her hand signaling him to go. “You may leave.”
What might have caused such sudden attack at this late hour if the night? What’s really going on?
She shoved her hair to the back with her both hands trying to think for an answer.
She couldn’t…
She rushed to his room, seeing as people walked in and out got her heart beat more harder.
They weren’t just people, they were the palace physicians. Might this injury be so serious?
How will she know if she doesn’t enter to find out about his condition?
Elena was already there helping the royal physician as he treated his wounds together with some certain things.
Lora stared at his wounds, they were deep and severe. She wanted to help but… What can she do??
The physicians were on it, Elena was on it too.
After they were done treating him, Elena with so much concern on her face asked. ” How are you feeling now?”
“You do need to worry about me, I’ll be fine. ” He replied, even though the answer weren’t convincing.
“Lucas…” She said in a whisper staring at him with her already wet eyes.
He stared back giving her an assuring look that he was more than okay..
She gave a slight nod, ” I’ll let you rest.” She sighed.
She left with the physicians leaving Lora alone with him.
“Are you alright?” She asked as she made one step after the other close to him. ” What happened?”
” I’m a little better.” He moaned softly, ” I’ll be fine.”
She sat beside him wanting him to tell her how much pain he felt.
He was the kind of person who keeps things to himself and it made her more concerned.
“W-what happened?” She repeated.
“The hunters…” He moaned again at the pain on his chest, ” they attacked a village.”
Her eyes widened so did her mouth. The hunters? Again?
“But why?” She asked again. ” Why are they doing this to people? ”
“For the same reason they had attacked your village.”
She paced her eyes around the room in confusion. Why would the hunters be so wicked?
And she’s left to think if it’s all because of her…
“Did they killed anyone?”
“No. Luckily we were just on time before they could do anything. ”
Was this some kind of sign of her dream? A sign to show how close Lucas is to his death? She sighed at her thoughts.
They are just freaking dreams, Lora. She consoled herself.
“Would they be back?” She asked, he turned to her. ” Nevermind I asked.”
“ What was I thinking? I shouldn’t have asked! Silly me! ” she hated herself for asking him that.
“There’s every possibility the hunters will return. They never stop fighting. ”
Her eyes met with his wounds, ” It’s a glad thing that you’re okay. If the hunters had taken you, what will be the fate of the people? ” She told him.
Was she saying all this?
Oh! Lora. At what mind did she has say all this with the fear of sitting with Lucifer’s favourite beside her?
“Why?” His deep voice held power as he spoke, ” why aren’t you scared of me?”
Now, that was a question Lora didn’t expect to hear. A question she has never wanted to hear either.
Scared?…
She was all the time scared of him but, scared in a different way. Maybe as a Demon… Or maybe, in a way only her knows.
The truth is,,, after he’d saved her life the moment she wanted death to take over, everything changed.
It was easy to accept death but it isn’t easy to lose the one she loves…
Scared?…
” Because you saved my life.” She spoke, ” You came to me when I wanted death. You took me in when I had no place to go. Why?… Why then should I be scared of you? ”
Their eyes met in contact, she wasn’t scared of looking deep into it. She only wanted one thing at that moment.
For him to see how damn serious she meant those words. Even if he has to see the part that she loves him too.
And to her, she wanted the same. To see how much he wanted her too. How serious he’d meant those words he told her when she first arrived at the palace.
“ You’ll be safe here… I’ll let no harm get to you… ”
” Your wounds is so severe and you need some rest.” She said. ” I’ll be leaving.”
She stood making a sign to leave.
“Thank you.” He said, his deep voice pulling her to a stop
Her heart melted like an ice at the appreciative tone of his voice.
She sighed…
She gulped…
Turning to meet his possessive gaze, she managed to say. ” You’re welcome.”
