I SOLD MY V
( His royal Excellency)
“You are not going half way around the world with that stranger!” My mother yelled in my face.
Joshua told her that he was taking me to France and now I’m here in her house, getting yelled at. “What if he tries to hurt you like you were talking about last time?”
I rolled my eyes as she spoke. “I think you’re just mad that you can’t go” I said truthfully.
“I mean I would love to go but you by yourself with him? I don’t think so. Don’t forget that I am still your mother”
“That may be but I’m twenty four and I haven’t lived yet”
“What? Yes you have, I’ve have given you everything!”
“And I have done everything for you! I was devoted to you when you were first diagnosed, I was your second-hand. Everything you needed I provided for you!” I yelled. “You can’t tell me what to do anymore”
She peered at me with her green eyes. “If you leave I will never forgive you”
“Why?” I looked deeply into her eyes. She rolled them and tapped her foot. She’s the devil and I pity her. The envy that shows clearly through her green eyes. Though I forgive her because she is my mother, and she did raise me. I respect her for that but getting in the way of my happiness is messing with me.
“It doesn’t matter” I said when she didn’t answer. “I have to go” I said sadly. I grabbed phone off the table and put my shoes on. “I love you mama” I kissed her cheek then made my way to the front door.
“It’s getting worse” she said before I opened it.
“What is?” I asked.
“My cancer, the chemo isn’t working fast enough” I didn’t say anything. I just looked at her with tear threatening to fall down my face. “I’m dying, Valentina”
What did she say?” I asked as Valentina got in the car.
“She told me to have fun” She said quietly and put on her seatbelt. She’s lying, her mother must’ve said somebody awful to her.
“Good” I looked at her for a long time. I’ll bring up the subject a little later but I’m not letting it go.
She keeps ignoring me, not looking at me . “Yea” she said. “Lets go home” she finally looked at me with saddened eyes. Wait, did she just say home? She called my house a home.
I nodded but stayed quiet and started the car.
“We leave for the airport at noon, we’ve got a lot of packing” I sighed.
“It’s not that bad” she said.
We pulled up to the house and got out the car. “What else did your mother day to you?” I asked as we walked into the house.
“Um- she uh” She stuttered. “Nothing” She finally said.
“You were in a good mood before we got to her house now you’re… different. What happened?” I grabbed her hand.
“Maybe we should go another time” she said as quiet as a mouse.
“What?” I asked. “You’re you happy about it yesterday”
“I know, I’m sorry I just don’t think now is a good time” she let my hands go and walked away from me.
“Why have you got something better to do?” I asked. “What are you saying?” She stopped walking to look at me.
I bit down on my jaw. “Nothing I just… think it’s weird that you all the sudden don’t want to go”
“Joshua, please don’t be mad” she placed her hand on my chest.
I bit down and sighed. I was about to say something when I stopped myself. She’s sensitive about her mother, I shouldn’t say anything.
“What am I supposed to be then?”
“What did she say to you, Valentina?” I grabbed her arms. “Just tell me. Stop hiding everything from me”
I’m not Joshua!” She her voice cracked as she yelled at me and I saw tears in her eyes. She pulled away from me and walked away.
What’s wrong with her? Did I do something wrong? What did I even do? I’ll let her calm down. I’ll talk to her tonight.
“I know you want to talk about this but I don’t” Valentina said tapping away at her computer, sipping her water.
I leaned on the dresser with my arms crossed. Looking at her. She’s beautiful.
“I know you don’t but I do” I rebutted. She looked around the room before focusing her eyes on me. “What is so bad that you can’t tell me?” I asked.
“Did she kill someone? She steal something? Is she holding you against your will? Is she preg-”
“She’s dying” she cut me off. “She’s dying… and I can’t leave her” her voice broke.
“I’m so sor-”
“I called the doctor just to see but he said she’s doing fine” she cut me off again.
“So what’s the problem?”
“The problem is she lied, she lied to me and I fell for it, so I’m sorry if I ruined things for you” she said through her teeth. “I’m a ruiner” she sobbed and hid her face.
“Valentina, it’s okay” She shook her head. “Pack your things” I said.
“Joshua we can’t-”
“Pack your things, Valentina. I’m not gonna ask you again” I said firmly.
She sighed and closed her computer. “Can you help me?” She said wiping her eyes like a child.
I walked over to her and pulled her off the bed. “Of course I can babe” I kissed her passionately so she knows I’m not mad.
“We leave in 30 minutes” I mentioned and went in the closet for a suitcase.
“30 minutes?! How am I supposed to get ready in 30 minutes?”
“I kinda already packed your bags for you” I kept taking suitcases out of the closet and called Nate to put them in the car.
“What? What if I said I didn’t want to go?”
“You were gonna go anyway” I stopped to look at her. “Even if I had to drag you out of here”
She raised her eyebrow and sat on the bed.
“I’d like to see you try” she scoffed.
“You don’t think I can?” I asked.
“No I don’t”
I walked over to her and grabbed her arm. She laughed and pulled away. “Okay Joshua I believe you” she said.
I didn’t stop. I picked her up and threw her over my shoulder.
She squealed and squirmed in my arms. I carried her down the stairs and out her in the car. “What did you say I couldn’t do?” She rolled her eyes at me and laughed. “Don’t you ever roll you’re eyes at me” I grabbed her face and pulled her in to kiss me.
She immediately took over and bit my lip looking deep into my eyes. She quietly moaned into my mouth.
I pulled away when I felt myself get hard. “You” I shook my finger at her. “You’re gonna love France” I smirked.
“Wake up” I felt something warm tickle my ear.
I groaned and covered my eyes. “Wake up, Valentina”
I opened them slowly and I looked up to see Joshua staring down at me. I sighed as he pulled me up out of the comfort of the jets chair. It took us 8 hours to get here. 8 long boring hours leaving it now pitch dark, with only lights of the city to lead our way.
“Where are we going?” I groaned as Joshua led me off the plane.
“To my parents house” he said.
I jumped off the last step of the plane and looked at him. “Really?!” I exclaimed. “I get to meet your parents?”
He chuckled. “Yes, they are very old fashioned”
“Wow, Joshua” I smiled to myself. I’ve never been in a position like this. What if they don’t like me? What if they cuss me out and claim I’m after Joshua’s money? What if they ask about where I’m from? I’ll have to be truthful tell them I had nothing until I met Joshua.
We were on our way to Joshua’s parents house and I was getting more nervous as the seconds passed by. I bit my lip and played with my fingers to help me from not being nervous but it wasn’t working. And Joshua was noticing.
“Are you nervous?” He grabbed my hand and kissed it.
I gave a small smile and shook my head. I feel so loved, I hope he doesn’t leave me to fend for myself when we get to his parents house.
I looked out the window at a beautiful staircase that led to a mansion, even bigger than Joshua’s. It’s beautiful so many lights and windows. Even a pool.
“Come on” Joshua onto held my hand as he led me out the car and up the stairs.
“Wait” I stopped him.
“Do I… have stuff on my face?”
“I was knocked out on the plane and I don’t want to look a mess” I blushed.
“You look beautiful” he kissed me before turning around to ring the door bell.
The big doors opened slowly and loud yelling was bounced off of the walls in the beautiful house. Before us store a man, 6’1, grey-ish and black hair. He was dressed in dark jeans and a polo sweatshirt. With a glass of wine in his hand.
Joshua let my hand go to embrace the man in a hug. They spoke in their foreign tongue, confusing me.
He looked at me and said something. I just looked at Joshua.
“Oh she only speaks English” Joshua laughed.
I smiled slightly at him and he spoke. “Oh please, excuse me miss…”
“Valentina” I said in a small voice.
“Valentina” he repeated me. “That’s a beautiful name. Please forgive me- come in” he moved out of my way and I stepped inside. The house became quiet as I was being stared upon by so many faces.
I froze and my eyes became watery. I looked at Joshua and he grabbed my hand.
“Ah!” A lady in heels screamed and walked over to Joshua touching his face. She’s an older looking woman. I’m guessing his mother. She spoke in French to him and looked at me, backing away.
“Everyone, this is Valentina” Joshua announced.
They all smiled at me and I gave a shy smile back. There must be over 20 people in this dining room. She’s is my girlfriend” everyone gasped in shock as did I. I looked up at him and he kissed me. In front of all these people.
