Brody’s POV

My head ached so bad as I rested on Marilyn’s shoulder who happened to lend it to me.I shot a look at Payton once a while but quickly looked away when our eyes almost met.Luckily she was back on good terms with Serani and Trevor…

‘Why don’t you go talk to her??’..Marilyn asked and I frowned…

‘What do you mean?’..I asked and she smiled..

‘You like her Brody it’s obvious and you’re not the shy type of attitude is kinda funny,I see the way you look at her and I want someone to look me like that too’..she said..

‘I don’t like her Marilyn,she’s my maid and I can never like her’..i whispered ignoring the pain in my lower abdomen…

‘Okay then well you need to rest and I’m lucky you’re okay cause Payton wanted to sneak to find you in the hospital with the other students I mean she literally cried her heart out and just because she was feeling guilty about you and saying that everything that happened was a mistake and she regrets everything’..She murmured…

‘Ohh really’..i exclaimed and she nodded…

So Payton really wanted to sneak off to me??..

The bus stopped in front of my house to drop me off since I was still not strong enough.Payton and Trevor got down with me and we all went inside.Mom was seated by the relaxation area and when she set her eyes on me she jolted from her chair immediately..

‘Oh my God Brody thank God you’re okay!! I almost had a heart attack when I heard you were stung by a scorpion’..She said in tears as she hugged me tightly…

‘I’ll be in my room’..was all i said and left.I slumped down on my bed grateful for the softness that i never noticed before and closed my eyes to sleep.A minute later my phone buzzed and when i annoyingly opened my eyes i saw that it was a message from Cooper…

????:A Party At My House wanna come??..

I sighed deeply seeing what the message was and replied:

????:Not in the mood for partying,catch you later..

I dropped my phone and turned the other way to sleep and just to my own dismay someone knocked on my door..

‘What?!!’..i asked sharply..

‘Uhh B..Brody it’s me Payton can I come in??’..Payton replied and i muffled a groan.

‘What do you want from me?!’..i asked again sharply..

‘I..I just want to talk that’s all’..she responded.I stood up from the bed and opened it only to be slammed by her beautiful face which haunts my dream every single night…

‘Fine then I’m here what do you want to say?’..I queried as i let her into my room and as she sat on the couch..

‘W..well first i wanted to say I’m sorry for my unruly behavior back at the camp and I’m also sorry for putting you in danger and almost killing you because of that Scorpion sting—Secondly I want to say thank you for saving my life,thank you Brody and I know you pretty much hate me for the pain you’re feeling and I’m sorry I’m going to give you the space you need cause you’ve always hated me right from the—

‘Wait is that what you think?? That i hate you??’..I cut in already feeling hot hearing her words..

‘Yes Brody,you’ve pretty much hated me right from the day you flirted with me and i embarrassed you’..she replied..

‘I don’t hate you Payton,Jesus Christ what have you been thinking?! That I’m a monster?? I don’t hate you Payton!!’..I said rummaging my hair angrily…

Payton’s POV

‘You hate me Brody and you show me how you hate me every single day,from the Toilet shredder incident,the nipple pooper,the pranks,the insults,the names,the fights,that pretty much shows how much you hate me’..I murmured and he scoffed..

‘Well that pretty much shows how myopic you are!!! Why would you think i hate you?! In fact i even….’..his voice trailed off..

‘You what??’..i asked..

‘You still have a boyfriend Payton’..he answered and i arched my brows..

‘What do you mean by I still have a boyfriend??’..i asked..

‘Leave my room and don’t you ever talk about this ever again please just leave my room!!’..He yelled and pushed me out the door and then slammed it hard in my face..

Payton’s POV

For the rest of the week Brody and I avoided each other like we had the plague or a certain kind of disease.In school we also avoided each other and he continued to be the charming play boy that he normally is..

‘You seem lost??’..Serani said tapping my neck as she sat next to me on the cafeteria table..

‘Yeah I am’..I replied and when Brody walked past me again with some girls giggling my chin sank into my palm and I let out a whimper..

‘You still like him don’t you??’..She asked..

‘Hell no Serani it’s just that I’m having a hard time making a hard decision’..I replied…

‘A hard decision?? What are you talking about??’..She asked again and i frowned..

‘You know?! About Chase Dumpkin!! He’s still my boyfriend remember and you know i don’t like him’..

‘Ohh that’..

‘Yes that Serani and now i don’t know what to do’..said and rubbed my cheekbones in frustration..

‘Well if you really feel that way about him then why don’t you tell him straight up?? Be like ‘Hey I’m not feeling you let’s break up’ that kind of thing,look at yourself you’re a mess every time you see your bad boy crush Brody with another person’…She replied..

‘Ughh no Serani he really likes me and…’..my voice trailed off as Chase walked towards the both of us with his entourage of football colleagues wearing a head band and looking good too..

‘Hey baby’..He said aloud kissing my cheeks even though I tried to keep the distance between the both of us with my hand.He sat down with his friends,Serani signaled me that she was leaving but i begged her to stay,Brody walked past the both of us again and he muttered something to the girls which made them laugh..

‘I just don’t like that Brody guy,He’s so full of himself acting all pompous and cool’..Chase murmured…

‘Yeah,one time i heard he f**ked Veronica Lawson raw at the back of the school and two days later he was f**king Veronica’s best friend too!!’..Jeremy added and everyone laughed.Serani threw me a -I gotta get out of here- look but i still begged her to stay..

‘Yeah that’s the reason I hate him more,just because his father left his mother he thinks he’s the real deal acting like he’s bigger than us when deep down he ain’t no real man’..Chase said again and everyone laughed while i fought the urge to leave not being able to bear what they were saying about Brody..

And did he just say Brody’s father left him??..

Funny enough i have never noticed or question the fact about Brody’s father..

‘Excuse me what did you say about my father?!’..I heard Brody yell as he walked towards our table and jacked Chase from his chair…

Oh no…

‘Well i said the truth about your father,he left your mother and what are you gonna do about it Huh??!’..Chase fired back already ready for a goddamn fight judging from his clenched fist.Brody stared at me and when i met his bloodshot gaze all i saw was pain..

‘Look Chase Dumbkin,I’m letting you go because one more fight would get me expelled but you push the button one more time then I’d rip your bones out’..He whispered and dropped Chase to the ground..

‘Uhhh Payton i really need to go now..’..Serani said as she grabbed her bag and before i could beg her to stay she was already far away.I whimpered softly and sunk down to the chair…

What am i going to do now??..

Who’s side am i on??..

Is it Brody who doesn’t give a hoot about me or Chase who has a loud mouth??..

‘Baby don’t you mind that Brody guy he really pissed me off and I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable’…

Brody’s POV

*Ziiiiiiiiing* the bell rang signaling the end of school and i grabbed my bags ready to leave without the car or anything.My arms brushed past Payton as we both walked outside the door..

I can’t believe she sat there with that dumb Chase and listened patiently as he talked bad about my mother and father..

Fine i know Dad left the both of us and i Hate him but it still doesn’t mean anyone else can talk about him anyhow..

‘C..can we talk??’..She asked..

‘I don’t want to talk with a traitor’..i replied icily..

‘A Traitor?! What did i do??’..she asked standing In front of me…

What is wrong with her anyway??..

The first minute she’s avoiding me and the next she’s trying to talk with me??..

‘Whose side are you on Payton??’..i asked crossing my arms..

‘W..well..well that’s a very hard decision to make’..she replied..

‘Well then i guess I shouldn’t be speaking with a traitor then—Goodbye and tell your boyfriend to watch his back’..
